Once upon a smile... there was a grey-eyed girl who welcomed her green mother to parenthood with a warm stream of urine trickling down the belly she once called home. “Tee hee,” her eyes giggled as they locked onto her mother’s, signaling the beginning of this wild ride they’ve been on together for the last 18 years.
Well, those grey eyes soon turned green, the mother less so. They danced a lot (Shake yo’ booty! Dum ti dum! Shake yo’ booty! Dum ti dum! Shake yo’ booty! Dum ti dum! Shake yo’ boo-teh!) and laughed even more through the early years of the girl’s life, making their way through the unknown together, taking turns being teacher along the way.
Later, the two would become more like sisters who were the best of friends — sharing life’s ups and downs, always together no matter what, daring to have fun despite their circumstances and loving each other unconditionally. The green-eyed girl was kindhearted and generous in spirit. “I love that about you,” her mother would say. “You’ve always found ways to make me laugh and given me reasons to smile even when there were none. You’ve always given of yourself — creating lovely cards and gifts for me, putting so much care and effort into each one that when you give them to me, it’s as if you're pouring nothing but love and light into my soul. You’re the

so gentle, loving, kind, generous, and compassionate. It’s one thing to find these traits in a young child, but you have kept them with you all this time, these 18 years — an awe-inspiring feat for this day and age! They broke the mold when they made you and for that I am truly thankful.”
So, it’s not for nothing that countless other parents have been mystified by the girl’s good nature. Many a time has the genuinely sincere question, “How'd you
do it?!?” been asked of her mother, often followed by, “Can you take mine and do whatever you did with her, please?!?” Her mother would smile humbly. “God has seen
fit to bless me with such a wonderful daughter. Why? I
don’t know, but I’m so glad he has. Oh, and keep your kids,
by the way. I think I’ll quit while I’m ahead!”
The green-eyed girl worked hard, too. She would put her
heart and soul into all that she did.
“...cuz that’s my Ninja way!” she’d say, quoting Naruto, one of her favorite anime characters — so determined to do her best.

And her imagination — WOW! Her mother was constantly amazed by it and her expression of it blew her away! Her knack for engrossing others in her many fantastical stories and tales of the dreams she’d had was extraordinary. “Oh, to spend a day in your head, Hannah Nöelle!”

“Nö . . . it’s a thing . . .
It’s like a “no”, but with more greatness! I mean, c’mon! that little ö is so kawaii ٩(^ᴗ^)۶ and it even looks like me, don’tcha think?!? And besides, being named after the absolute best time of the year has got to be the Best! Thing! Ever! Am I right?!? Of course I'm right!” Her mother loved listening to her fun little bursts of intrapersonal communication!
Over the past 18 years, the green-eyed girl's mother has watched with pride and joy as her beautiful daughter has grown into the lovely young woman she is today. She can't wait to see what the next 18
years (and beyond) will bring on this crazy, wild ride they're on together!
Hannah, thanks for being you — the best daughter ever! HAPPY 18th!
